Vinyasa Yoga & Restorative/Yin Yoga

Kimberly Ranly

She/Her

Kim has been practicing yoga for the past 15 years in the Columbus area, but really felt at home when she discovered Danja. Yoga has become an integral part of her life and has helped tremendously with chronic neck pain, migraines, and especially stress. Since becoming a yoga teacher she has also received trainings in Reiki therapy and Nutrition Health Coaching, further expanding on her holistic and nurturing approach with her students. With a background as a nurse, Kim brings special attention in her classes to alignment as well as relaxing the nervous system. Outside of the studio, her main passion is hiking and snuggling with her ornery pup, mister Ruben!

After practicing for many years, I realized how yoga is much more than just the physical exercise component known in the western mainstream - there are so many layers!  It has completely changed my ability to not only manage chronic pains, but to calm my mental and emotional states.  I began finding myself increasingly telling friends, family, or patients to try yoga for their emotional or physical ailments, and hearing positive results.  I was looking for a “fun job” outside of nursing for years, and yoga was an easy decision.

I love the atmosphere and feel of the studio, the amount of props available, the clientele, the location, and the management and owners 🙂

You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga!  We are all built differently, so don’t compare yourself to your neighbor and don’t force yourself into positions that hurt.  There are always ways to modify.

My favorite pose has become the restorative frog on a log - it is sooo relaxing.

The Wisdom of Yoga by Stephen Cope - I love how he related the yoga sutras to his life and to the lives of his fellow yogis at Kripalu during his training.  He made it sound very accessible and less intimidating, and hearing the honest deep conversations they had together was beautiful and insightful.   I also read this while on the yoga retreat in Jamaica and was in my very own introspective and meditative state in my yoga, practicing twice a day, and soaking it all in 🙂

I practiced ballet for 13 years!

I love hiking in the mountains and traveling the world, experiencing new cultures with my hubs.
