Ficus benghalensis

Ficus Audrey

These Figs are native to India and Pakistan, where they grow on other trees to support themselvesg. The plants' tolerance of varying light levels and watering requirements contributes to their low-maintenance nature. Unlike the Fiddle Leaf Fig, which often requires very bright light to thrive, the Ficus Audrey is less finicky about irregular watering and more adept to filtered light.

Ficus Audrey is a beautiful tree that's much easier to care for than its relative Fiddle Leaf Fig. It will thrive in filtered sunlight and requires watering only when the top two inches of soil are dry.

Ficus Audrey is also known as the Banyan Tree. Like many Aroids it grows aerial roots that form new plants once they reach the earth. This allows the tree to spread. In fact, the largest Banyan Tree is in India and spreads over 3.5 acres and is over 80 feet tall!

Our studio Ficus Audrey came to us from The Plant Gays in East Market.

According to the ASPCA Ficus Audrey is a toxic plant. I've never tasted one, but do like to lay under it in the studio and at home.
